General Directions
The Flutterby House is located in the Bahia neighborhood of Uvita, a town in the Costa Ballena region of Costa Rica, about 20km south of Dominical. The nearest regional airport is in Quepos, which will still require a bus or taxi to reach us.
Coming from San Jose, the most economical way to get here is by taking the public or semi-private bus. The public "collectivo" bus takes about 6 hours, makes frequent stops, and picks up out front of the SJO airport. The semi-private Tracopa bus is direct, takes about 4 hours, has air conditioning and leaves from the Tracopa bus station in downtown San Jose. More info here > http://tracopacr.com/
You can also arrange for a private mini-bus or shuttle that will take you directly to the Flutterby House for US$50-$75. Some of the more affordable shuttles are Monkey Ride and Super Shuttle.
Bus Directions
Coming from the North
From San Jose via Jacó and Quepos: (Collectivo) ~US$10
Bus Station: Tracopa
Time: 6:00 and 15:00
Travel Time: about 6 hours
Stay on the bus through Uvita! The bus will turn right onto a paved road heading toward Playa Uvita. Get off at the first stop at the 4-corners and Flutterby bus stop. Follow the signs to the Flutterby House from there.
From San Jose: (Directo) US$15.
Bus Station: Tracopa
Times: Buses leave all throughout the day towards Uvita. All of the buses towards David, Cuidad Neily, Laurel, Golfito or Paso Caoas ALL make a rest stop in Uvita, so you can take any of those. Just make sure the route is via the Costanera Sur

Get off at La Flor de Sabana restaurant in Uvita. The bus will stop there for a rest stop.
*This bus is a little more expensive, but makes no stops and is much faster! From Tracopa bus station in Uvita you can catch a taxi by the BM supermarket for c2500 ($4ish) or walk about 30-45 mins to the Flutterby House.
Coming from the South/Panama
From Paso Canoas (Costa Rica/Panama border):
Bus Station: Tracopa
Time: 8am and 16:30 pm
Travel Time: 3-1/3 hours
Get off at La Flor de Sabana restaurant in Uvita. .The bus will stop there for a rest stop.

Driving Directions
Coming from San Jose Airport
Go South on CN 1 until you reach San Jose (about 15 minutes). You will pass the Crowne Plaza and Parque Sabana on your right. After you pass the park turn right before the McDonalds on to the CN 27 going west towards Jacó.
Go South on the paved Costanera Sur highway CN 34 that passes through the towns of Jacó and Quepos. After passing through Uvita take a right at the Playa Uvita sign, turn left at the first intersection and follow the signs to the Flutterby House.
Coming from San Isidro
Going south on CN-2 take a right at McDonald's and follow the street that will end at the road to Dominical. After 37 km/ 23 miles (about 45 minutes driving time), the road ends and you will have two choices: right toward Manuel Antonio, or left toward Domincal.
Take a LEFT towards Dominical on the Costenera Highway. From Dominical continue South on paved Costanera Sur highway until you pass through Uvita. Take a right at the Playa Uvita sign. Turn left at the first intersection and follow the signs to the Flutterby House.

Coming from the South/Panama
Get on the Costenera going North. Before getting into the town of Uvita you will pass House of Ginger Chinese food on the right. Shortly after, turn left onto a paved road toward Playa Uvita. Turn left at the first intersection and follow the signs to the Flutterby House.
